Traditional size - 14" in length
by Kitty Cantrell & Caroline Boydston

ORIGINS: Germany. Earliest evidence in the 8th century where they were used as War Horses.

BREED PROFILE: In the 18th century development of today’s modern Hanoverian began by introducing English Thoroughbreds and Cleveland Bay’s to the native heavy of Germany. There are still two types, a lighter type and a heavier type. Today, the Hanoverian excels as a fabulous competition horse and is used for such events as dressage, show jumping and eventing. Many can often be found competing in these disciplines at the Olympic games. They are most definitely one of today’s most recognized and popular Warmblood breeds.

CHARACTERISTICS: The Hanoverian is a noble, proud breed and is valued for its even and willing disposition. They possess great athletic ability and an excellent free-flowing action.
