It’s Scottish tradition to name your home. My maternal Grandmother lived north of Aberdeen, Scotland on a farm call The Red House. I spent wonderful months there as a teenager, my bachelor Uncle spoiling me with a horse to care for every summer. I did not get back again till a few years ago, my Uncle still has the farm, much is the same as I remember many summers ago and I will always embrace my Scottish roots. One day while having lunch with my husband, Michael, we heard the drifting sounds of the bagpipes and we both had to hunt down the music. A small Pipe Band was preparing for competition and using a parking lot to practice in. We told each other then, that we would someday name our dream home after the pipes. Years later, the stars would align for us and we found ourselves in our dream home at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains. While listening to a bagpipe CD, the tunes just drifted and the name came to us. So here we are, with our horses, a lovely home and plenty of trails to ride on. It was just fitting that we call our business the same name as our home - Pipers Glen. ~Heather Wells |
